Welcome to the personal homepage of Andreas Philip Gross, educator by both training and birth! I'm an international educator and educational leader with 12 and a half years and counting of experience in the world of K-12 education. What do I do? I teach. I disseminate information. I lead. I facilitate growth and development. I work for both "the man" and myself - yeah, that's right, you read that correctly: I work for "the big guns,"the "heavy-hitter institutions and organizations," as well as privately for myself. Who says you can't do both, right? Life is made for living out loud - and that's what I teach my students, too.

And who are my students?  Anyone and everyone who wishes to be.  During my career so far as an educator inside a "traditional" brick-and-mortar school building, I have worked with students from Kindergarten through 12th Grade.  I have privately tutored students from Kindergarten all the way through to retired adults.  A big component of my "day job" in the traditional brick-and-mortar school setting has also been - and continues to be - working with adults, fellow teachers, to help guide, coach, and facilitate growth and development in their craft as educators.

My main goals and missions in life are to:

  • teach students of all ages and abilities useful knowledge and life skills regarding how to navigate this great big world of ours;

  • help, coach, guide, and facilitate personal and professional growth and development in fellow teachers as they "work their magic" in this world;

  • disseminate useful information to everyone;

and ,above all else,

  • to guide, facilitate, teach, and nurture students of all ages in analytical and critical thinking skills and metacognition - guiding students along in the journey of how to learn and think for themselves, how to think about learning and thinking, how to learn and think on their own - period!  (but not what to learn or think - although I do offer suggestions and guidance in this department, of course!)

I am a strong believer in the age old adage Knowledge is power.  But it's not just about what you know - what you know is only the beginning of the journey, not the end!  Knowing what to do with that knowledge and HAVING THE SKILL SETS AND CRITICAL THINKING PROCESSES IN PLACE TO USE IT to your advantage for the betterment of your life and the lives of those around you is ultimately what it's all about!  Furthermore, knowing how to cultivate, add to, mature, and advance your own knowledge and skill sets on your own, without me, the teacher, hovering over you all the time is the ultimate goal.

This "ultimate goal" amounts to the student transitioning from "purely a student," absorbing the knowledge and skills the teacher teachers, to a cognitively aware, self-actualized, critical thinking life long learner who can navigate, cope with, learn, grow, and develop in this world on their own.  When this happens, the student realizes they are a spiritual, seeking being - an eternal point of light in an otherwise grey (neutral) world - who happens to be encased in a material body, bound by time and space, within this three-dimensional Earth plane of existence at this particular point in time and that birth, death, hate, love, joy, fear, greed, jealousy, anger, excitement, exuberance, poverty, wealth, disease, health, and taxes - you can't forget about taxes - are but the price we pay for this human journey of growth and development we call LIFE along the timeless journey of the soul through Eternity.
